Effects of phosphorus on growth and toxin production of Alexandrium tamarense and Alexandtium mimum
|
Abstract:
Effects of four different phosphorus (Na2HPO4) concentrations, 0μmol L-1, 1.8μmol L-1, 3.6μmol L-1 and 5.4μmol L-1, on the growth and toxin generation of Alexandrium tamarense and Alexandtium minutum were studied. The four phosphorus concentrations have significance effect on the growth and toxin generation of A. tamarense and A. minutum (p<0.05). The 3.6μmol L-1 concentration of A. tamarense had higher algae cell concentration than the other three phosphorus concentrations (p<0.05). The A. tamarense concentration of 0μmol L-1 was lower than the other three phosphorus concentrations (p<0.05). The growth of A. minutum had no significance difference among 1.8μmol L-1, 3.6μmol L-1 and 5.4μmol L-1 (p>0.05). But the A. minutum concentration of 0μmol L-1 was significantly lower than the other three phosphorus concentrations (p<0.05). The toxin generation of Alexandrium tamarense and Alexandtium minutum in 0μmol L-1 was higher than the other three phosphorus concentrations (p<0.05), separately 3 MU 10000cells-1 and 5.2MU 10000cells-1. There was no significance difference on toxin generation of Alexandrium tamarense and Alexandtium minutum among 1.8μmol L-1, 3.6μmol L-1 and 5.4μmol L-1 (p>0.05).
