Simulation on the Human Olfaction Reacts Affected by Nasal Cavity Structure
|
Abstract:
Based on a nasal cavity structure according with that in anatomy, the bionic model for nasal cavity and the governing equations for odorant molecules transport were built. The dynamic simulation on nasal cavity flow field was carried out with ANSYS software. The results showed that the higher the inspiration speed, the more odor molecules could pass through the human olfaction area, and the more easily the olfaction was excited; the shorter the distance between the entrance of nasal cavity and the olfaction area, the greater was the flux of the odorant passing through the olfaction area, and the more easily the olfaction was excited. Thus, the olfaction theory has been enriched and the olfaction has been further understood. This can offer the bionic theory foundation for artificial olfaction study.
