EFECT OF pCMBS ON ANION TRANSPORT IN INTACT ERYTHROCYTE MEMBRANES
|
Abstract:
The effect of PCMBS on ainon transport in intact erythrocyte membranes was studied by hemolytic kinetics in an isotonic solution of NH4CI.Anion permeabiligy coefficient (Pc1) was reduced to 86.5% of control when PCMBS concentration was 0.05mmol/L, while it became larger when pCMBS was over lmmol/L. When pCMBS concentration was over 0.3mmol/L the optical absorbances of cell suspension within 10s decreased much fasfer as compared with the theoretical value, which could not be affected by DIDS. These effects of pCMBS could be re versed by cysteine. The result indicats that inthection of pCMBS with the specific SH-groups on the membrane skeleton leads to an allosteric conformational change in band 3to cause the change in anion permeabiligy.
