Abstract: this article explores the identity conflict that the kaweskar experience in interacting with religious and military groups located on the shores of puerto eden, a peripheral zone where few descendants are confined. within these borders kaweskar children begin an educational process that differs from the learning patterns of their ethnicity, thus assimilating customs and knowledge based on the precepts of the catholic religion. wegmann questions the identity profile that the chilean nation has set at a macro level and the alleged integration of indigenous people as chilean citizens.
