Raul Matsushita, Leandro Nascimento, Sergio Da Silva

Emotional-Cognitive Overconfidence and Gender

Gustavo Maia, Daniel Bonfim, Sergio Da Silva
We study the role gender plays in emotional and cognitive overconfidence in a consumer-choice environment. Regardless of age, we find in our sample that males show more emotional and cognitive overconfidence than females do. However, older females are more overconfident in both emotional and cognitive terms. This result can be rationalized by the fact that older females have an edge on their immune system.

Role of Regression to the Mean and Loss Aversion in Brazilian Soccer Club Performance

Leon Esquierro, Sergio Da Silva
Causal explanations are often favored to explain club performance in soccer tournaments, and the role that luck plays is usually neglected. We find that club performance depends on both, and quantify this finding.
