%X eleven jatropha species are reported for puebla representing 24% of diversity in mexico. all of them are distributed mainly in cuenca del balsas and tehuacan-cuicatlan valley. the types of vegetation with more species are the tropical deciduous forest and xerophytic scrub. the presence of j. elbae j. jim¨¦nez ram., j. oaxacana j. jim¨¦nez ram. & r. torres, j. pseudocurcas m¨¹ll. arg. and j. websteri j. jim¨¦nez ram. is reported for the first time in the state. we highlight the probable disappearance of two puebla endemic species, j. riojae miranda and j. rufescens brandegee.
