%X forgiveness is a phenomenon found in all human relationships and is widely present in the psychotherapeutic field. however, there is a noticeable absence of studies that discuss this issue in chile. the aim of this article is to describe the nature of this phenomenon from a psychological perspective, systematizing the main points of consensus and disagreement found in the scientific literature about forgiveness. also, it describes the factors that have been associated with forgiveness and some instruments to measure it. finally, clinical implications of forgiveness research are discussed, as well as possible future directions for research in this emerging area.
