%0 Journal Article %T Embarazos en adolescentes: vulnerabilidades y pol¨ªticas p¨²blicas %A Olavarr¨ªa Aranguren %A Jos¨¦ %A Molina Guti¨¦rrez %A Rodrigo %J Polis (Santiago) %D 2012 %I Scientific Electronic Library Online %R 10.4067/S0718-65682012000100022 %X twenty years ago, the issue of teenage pregnancy entered thepublic agenda as an expression of poverty and vulnerability of young femalepopulation in chile. this article presents an analysis of this problem through fourapproaches: 1) it provides a brief overview of public policy regarding this issueand the diagnosis behind it. 2) analysis data regarding pregnancy of young womenunder the age of twenty (data used is from statistics on pregnancy to woman underthe age of twenty and births to pregnant women of the same age) and comparesmeasurements from the 1995-1996 census on pregnant students in the chileanschool system, 2006 and 2009 casen (national socioeconomic characterizationsurvey) data on pregnancies to women under 20. 3) it examines the vulnerabilityof these young women based on testimonies regarding the meaning and practice ofyouth sexuality-within the context of transition to adulthood. 4) the article statesthat the condition of being an adolescent mother in chile implies a greatervulnerability to poverty and the exclusion from rights and benefits that are providedby the school system. these claims are supported by the analysis of casen datafrom 2006 and 2009. %K teenage pregnancy %K public policy %K rights. %U http://www.scielo.cl/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S0718-65682012000100022&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
