%X the article the need to incorporate the joint between the concepts of modernity, nation state and race in the analysis of stratification and social mobility in latin america in general and argentina in particular. it analyzes how the emergence and consolidation of modern nation-states occurs in conjunction with the consolidation of a global division of labor supported by racial and how that division is crystallized in a social structure: the process of "racialization" of classes.
