%X since his establishment in argentina in 1956, jordi arbon¨¨s, born in catalonia, started to translate works from english into catalan. as he advanced in knowledge of both language and culture, he received requests from major publishers to publish works of universally recognized authors in catalan, allowing their introduction in catalonia, especially in the post-franco period. upon his death in 2001, he had translated about 150 books. with his legacy, in the facultat de traducci¨® i d'interpretaci¨® of the universitat aut¨°noma de barcelona, the professorship "catedra jordi arbon¨¨s" was established.
