%X this paper addresses the parent-child relationship established between modern cinema, post-second world war and the so-called contemporary modern cinema, which was marked by social and economic conditions very divergent from those of its predecessor. while the french new wave tried to register, and to document an experience, modern contemporary cinema deepens into the extreme experience of ubanizaci¨®n and modernization. in this regard, we note two paradigmatic cases which aptly expressed this shift in the framework of modern cinema: the cinema of jia zhang-ke and hong sang-soo.
