%X the present article offers a critical review of specialized historiography about the coffee industry in colombia. it takes into account classical studies on related problems and, in particular, an analysis of its theoretical and methodological presuppositions. the dichotomy in the marxist and functionalist approaches is evident, mainly in the analysis of agrarian structures from the point of view of development. similarly, the text emphasizes recent lines of work, particularly the production of university and labor union origin.
