%X the function and importance of scientific collections lies in the objects of unique nature that they contain, the raw material to generate and validate scientific knowledge. the paleontological collections preserve, maintain, and keep available fossils and the information they contain. in this way they protect the most valuable heritage of society: the scientific knowledge of at least a part of nature and its social benefits.
