%X the object of the present work was to evaluate biological and environmental factors in relation to canine helminthiasis of zoonotic importance in urban houses in northeastern argentina. forty-four domestic units have been investigated. information referred to biological variables of the canines (sex, age and breed) and environment features have been gathered. samples of fecal material of the dogs and the soil of the house were taken. the diagnosis of canine helminthiasis has been done as well as the evaluation of the existence of infective forms in the soil. the presence of 53 dogs in 29 of the whole of the analyzed houses has been confirmed; the maximum number of observed dogs in one of the houses was five. the proportion of the sex was 21 females and 32 males. the average age of the canines was 3.8 years. the half-caste breed was dominant. samples of fecal material of the 56.6% of the observed dogs were obtained, and the prevalence of helminthiasis was 70,0%, the hookworms were the most frequent (63.3%), followed by toxocara canis and trichuris vulpis (16.7% and 3.3% respectively). major parasitic infection in the males with regard to the females was found. the major parasitic frequency was checked in the rank from 0 and 2 years old. parasitic forms were observed in the samples of the soil of 45.5% of the analyzed houses, twelve of which, presented larvae of hookworms, six presented eggs of t. canis and two both helminths. the results show the relevance of the domestic environment as a favorable habitat of the canine helmintiasis transmission of zoonotic importance.
