%X this paper analyses the most significant orthographic and phonetic aspects of aurora de chile, a ministerial and political newspaper published weekly during 1812-1813, which was directed by camilo henr¨ªquez and written by many contributors. this newspaper has an enormous documentary value, not only because it is the first relevant newspaper in chile, but also because it constitutes a large corpus, which is made up of national and international news of various kinds, and which clearly reflects the independence movement ideological concerns.
