Harnessing the regenerative power of the periosteum appears to be limited only by the amount of healthy periosteum available. Here we use a substitute periosteum, a delivery device cum implant, to test the hypothesis that directional delivery of endogenous periosteal factors enhances bone defect healing. %U http://www.plosone.org/article/info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0028702
