%X this article analyzes the studies carried out at the end of the twentieth century about the different types of existing states. furthermore, it is proposed to study the state considering the systems with which necessarily relates democracy, the challenges of radical modernity, global risk society and the interaction between the intrastate and interstate dimensions. considering these concepts may better explain the current situation of states in a complex and dynamic world.
