%X this article presents a methodology, denominated aud-infocon, in order to audit information and knowledge. it was elaborated taking into account the main links between these two processes, as well as the analysis of the causes that motivate its implementation and the objectives pursued. methodologies and models used to carry out these processes were analyzed and also, the cognitive and methodological basis, which facilitate the design of a comprehensive audit methodology in both disciplines. as a result, it was constructed "a unique instrument," which not only allows its implementation within information institutions, but also in any organization that is embroiled in initiating information and knowledge management projects.
