%X the article exposes the way in which the intellectual community of colombia received darwin's works, specifically the theory of evolution through natural selection. overall, his arguments were considered utilitarian and interpreted from a purely religious or political perspective, rather than being understood as a biological theory. in addition, the text presents testimonies that reflect the political times and the prevailing ideologies of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
