%X the purpose of this article is to establish to what extent penal laws served as an instrument of the anti-jewish policy followed by the spanish government at the end of the fifteenth century, in other words, during the period which preceded the expulsion of the jews. with this purpose in mind the author analyzes the criminal proceedings for blasphemy to which jato tello, a jew from vitoria in alava, was submitted.
