%X a private security industry has been established in argentina during the last decades. this process has included the creation of a new socio-professional category - private security agents, known as "vigiladores" - who are responsible for providing protection and surveillance services. in this paper, we analyze the social characteristics of these workers and the jobs they perform. we also describe the selection process through which these individuals are recruited and how they access this occupation.
