%X the £¿distance in proximity£¿ was the expression i used in my doctoral thesis and later my published book. its purpose was to define my own position as an anthropologist when writing the ethnographic relationship between mistresses and maids in brazil some years ago. in this article, i evoke this research and writing, contextualizing the proximities and the singular sense of the expression £¿keep the distance£¿ and its relationship in the narrated experience.
