%0 Journal Article %T R¨¦gimen de precipitaci¨®n en Montalb¨¢n Estado Carabobo, Venezuela %A P¨¦rez de Askue %A Mercedes %A Soto %A Enio %J Agronom¨ªa Tropical %D 2004 %I Scientific Electronic Library Online %X forty years of rainfall data registered in the montero farm, planted with orange and coffee trees, located in montalb¨¢n, carabobo state, were analyzed annually and monthly. analyses of descriptive statistics and the probability of the expected rainfall in relation to an indicated value were carried out. the precipitation in this area was also classified into six categories from very dry to very wet conditions, and histograms of frequency were made. the month-rainfall trend was established by using the asymmetry index of yule. the rainfall data ranged from 624 mm to 1.268 mm for the years 2001 and 1969, respectively. the mean value of total annual rainfall was 964.3 ¡À 159.5 mm, with 16.5% of coefficient of variation. taken into account the number of wet months and the mean annual precipitation, montalb¨¢n was classified as unimodal stational regime with intermediate category. according to the yule index the months with negative asymmetry were march, april, may, and october. the majority of the extreme values of drought were found in the last five years. the magnitude and distribution of the rainfall in montalban do not allow the farmers to get optimal yields for orange or coffee without complementary irrigations. %K rainfall regime %K water laminae %K yule index. %U http://www.scielo.org.ve/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S0002-192X2004000400001&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
