%X the aim of this article is to evaluate the dependency level of 156 elderly people (101 women and 55 men), residing in private nursing homes in soria (spain), using the barthel index, in order to establish an interdisciplinary performance planning for the prevention and reversal of dependency situations. conclusions: the dependency level of institutionalized elderly people increases by several factors such as, age, sex, the time they have been institutionalized and a bad perception of their health status.
