%X the chilean procedural penal system introduced a new standard of conviction: beyond reasonable doubt. this standard comes from the anglosaxon legal tradition, so it is fairly unknown -and under certain interpretations, inapplicable- in the country, considering chilean link's to european continental law. because of this, the following paper strives to provide a different analysis on the standard of evidence used by our lawmakers, bringing it closer to the discussion that should occur in chile. it also seeks to answer the following question: is it possible to convict based on the fact that the court was convinced beyond a reasonable doubt, if there is a reasoned and studied minority vote that finds for acquittal?
