%X with the advent of guidelines for description and access to resources, the cataloging process faces a different challenge characterized, from beginning to end, by the use of data modeling and information technology. this recognizes that changes in bibliographic description were necessary, but a sudden abandon will not be an easy task. the purpose of this paper is to highlight that the best practices and workflows made from the implementation of new cataloging code, will commit to take advantage of the efficiency and flexibility to be obtained from the data contained in a record. one of the main results of the research is to document the understanding of what is happening around the delay in the implementation of new cataloging code.
