%0 Journal Article %T El papel del maestro, el papel del alumno: un estudio sobre las creencias e implicaciones en la docencia de los profesores de matem¨˘ticas en Panam¨˘ %A Lebrija %A Analinnette %A Flores %A Rosa del Carmen %A Trejos %A Mayra %J Educaci¨Žn matem¨˘tica %D 2010 %I Scientific Electronic Library Online %X beliefs have an individual and a social dimension, and have significant implications in the development of programs for teachers training. we analyze the beliefs of panamanian math teachers (belonging to pre-media and media levels) about the learning and teaching of mathematics. a likert-type instrument was used, as well as an open-answer questionnaire. the results show that the teachers have a traditional vision of mathematics and its teaching, and promote a learning process more centered in algorithmic aspects, and less centered in the solving of problems. they show as well concern for understanding their students' socio-affective factors, but at the same time, support beliefs that are contrary to their students. the results are discussed because of their implications in service teachers training. %K beliefs %K teachers %K mathematics. %U http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S1665-58262010000100003&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
