%X the aim of this article is to discuss the daily use of public space by women in a working class neighbourhood, located within the barcelona metropolitan area: ca n£¿anglada, in the city of terrassa. firstly we analyse the concept of public space from a gender perspective secondly we present the research methodology as well as the historical and social context of the case-study. the third part focuses on the empirical analysis of women£¿s daily life and of the use of public spaces in the neighbourhood. finally, we draw some conclusions and put forth a number of proposals. the research presented in the article made use of qualitative methods, namely participant and non-participant observation, and in-depth interviews.
