%X this paper, through analysis of discourse, characterizes the evolution of the leadership of ricardo lagos as an expression of a path to positions of greater centrality policy based on increasing functions of intermediation. the study starts by analyzing the fragmentation dynamics of diachronic in the leadership of lagos as a strategy to identify under successive present in its ideological evolution, which is characterized by the existence of four moments in which the subject is contextually conditioned training their preferences. second, we characterize the speech as president of chile (1999-2005) from the four meanings connote prepared for the role of government
