%X the aim of this paper is to record the pieces of fabric handcraft, produced by the community quilombola of giral grande, located in maragojipe, rec£¿ncavo. it is an indicator of their cultural identity as well as represents a factor of livelihood for a portion of its members. this identity, in turn, becomes a factor essential to the process of legitimation of local land ownership, guaranteed by the brazilian 1988 constitution.
