Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) are a group of heterogeneous clonal disorders of hematopoietic stem cells, characterized by abnormal marrow development and ineffective hematopoiesis, leading to reduced peripheral blood cells. This disease carries a risk of transformation into acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and existing treatment options do not sufficiently address the survival and prognostic concerns of MDS patients. Research has identified the JAK-STAT signaling pathway, among others, as playing a significant role in the development and progression of MDS.
