The integrated construction of ideological and political education courses at all levels is an inevitable path to improve the quality of such courses and enhance their educational impact. The compulsory education stage is a critical period for guiding students to shape their values, beliefs, and outlook on life, as well as an important phase for promoting students’ cognitive development. It is also a key time for advancing the integration of ideological and political education courses across different educational stages. However, due to the influence of traditional schooling systems, there are barriers between educational stages in terms of teaching and talent cultivation. There are issues such as poor content alignment, inappropriate teaching methods, and insufficient teacher team coordination in the transition between primary and junior high school ideological and political education courses. To break down these barriers and promote teaching alignment, efforts can be made from three aspects: building a systematic curriculum, a tiered teaching system, and an interconnected teaching staff. This will facilitate the connection of ideological and political education courses from primary to junior high school, thereby advancing the integrated construction of ideological and political education courses across all levels.
