In international communication, in order to maximize the commercial and cultural value of films, translators often translate film titles through the path of “imitation”, that is, combining “creation” and “imitation”, using free translation, literal translation and other strategies. Based on Embodied-Cognitive Linguistics, this paper discusses the translation path of Stephen Chow’s movie titles from three aspects: reality, cognition and language, using text analysis and path simulation. It is found that in addition to literal translation or transliteration at the language level, translators often implement “creation” at the reality and cognitive level. Among them, the translator sometimes achieves a more creative translation by dispelling the metaphor of the original title, and sometimes by converting similar concepts in the target language, and combining factors such as plot, characters and rhetoric.
