As the leading advocate of the British Aesthetic Movement, Oscar Wilde established a comprehensive aesthetic system through his novels, plays, and critical essays, with “Art for Art’s Sake” as its core principle. This study takes “The Picture of Dorian Gray” as the primary text to analyze Wilde’s aestheticism through three dimensions: the relationship between art and life, morality, and form. By contextualizing Victorian cultural discourse and examining contemporary digital media practices, the research reveals the historical significance and modern relevance of aestheticism. Key findings demonstrate that Wilde’s magical portrait device deconstructs the art-life dichotomy, his formalism finds technological reincarnation in NFT art, while his resistance to moral didacticism offers critical insights into aesthetic alienation in the social media era. This study provides a methodological model for trans-temporal interpretation of classical literary theories.
