China’s hospitality industry has witnessed a rapid recovery recently. However, undergraduate education in hotel management continues to grapple with challenges such as declining enrollment and outdated curricula. This study examines the undergraduate curriculum system of the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) to explore how curriculum reforms can effectively address the evolving demands and market dynamics of the hospitality industry. EHL’s curriculum, designed in a modular fashion, covers multiple dimensions including professional skills, business analysis, intercultural communication, and innovation, with the aim of cultivating graduates’ exemplary management capabilities in the contexts of digital transformation, personalized service, and a globalized business environment. The findings offer valuable insights for the development of undergraduate hotel management education in China, emphasizing the importance of balancing curriculum stability with timely updates to nurture highly qualified talents capable of adapting to industry transformations.
