This study focuses on the instructional design of junior high school English reading from the concept of activity-based English learning, addressing prevalent issues of superficial and formulaic activities in current reading instruction. Taking the exemplary text Students Who Volunteer as a case study, it conducts comprehensive analyses across four dimensions: instructional content analysis, student needs and characteristics analysis, formulation of teaching objectives with key focal points and challenging elements, and design of pedagogical activities. Through meticulous examination of textual content, precise identification of learner profiles, explicit articulation of instructional goals and critical challenges, and systematic development of hierarchically progressive English learning activities, this research elucidates effective approaches to junior high school English reading instructional design within the framework of activity-based language English learning. The study ultimately demonstrates how to implement scientifically grounded reading instruction that aligns with the theoretical constructs of English learning activities. %K 英语学习活动观, %K 英语阅读, %K 教学设计
