This article delineates the significance of discourse analysis and the integration of reading and writing, explores the interrelationship between discourse analysis and instructional design, and exemplifies the practical application of discourse analysis in the integration of reading and writing in high school English through a specific teaching case. By employing discourse analysis theory, it systematically organizes and interprets the thematic context, content, thematic significance, and organizational characteristics of discourse, utilizing these elements as the foundation for instructional design.
