Objective: To investigate the application mechanism and clinical efficacy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Five Elements music therapy in the treatment of migraines, and to analyze its advantages and limitations as an adjunctive therapy. Methods: Through literature analysis, case studies, and clinical trial summaries, we identified the therapeutic mechanisms of Five Elements music therapy (visceral-gland regulation guided by the Five Elements mutual generation and restriction theory, and resonance effects between musical vibrations and the human body). We further evaluated its efficacy and safety in combined therapies (acupuncture combined with Yue tuning music, herbal medicine paired with Zhǐ tuning music) and standalone applications for migraines. Results: Studies suggest that Five Elements music therapy alleviates migraines by regulating Yin-Yang balance and improving emotional states. Combined therapies demonstrated significant benefits in reducing headache frequency, alleviating symptoms of liver Yang hyperactivity-type migraines, and enhancing quality of life, with outcomes superior to single-modality treatments. Standalone applications showed potential for mild migraine patients and those in sub-health states, though evidence is limited. Current research focuses predominantly on combination therapies, lacking in-depth analyses of Five Elements music’s unique properties. Individual differences (educational background, lifestyle) may also influence efficacy assessments. Conclusion: Five Elements music therapy, characterized by its non-invasive, safe, and simple nature, serves as a promising adjunctive intervention for migraines, particularly when integrated with other therapies for synergistic effects. Future efforts should prioritize standardization of protocols, optimization of personalized strategies, and differentiation from conventional music therapies to facilitate broader clinical adoption. %K 中医五行音乐疗法, %K 偏头痛, %K 现代应用分析, %K 非药物疗法
