The Banxi antimony deposit is located in Taojiang County, Hunan Province, and is one of the well-known antimony deposits in the central region of Hunan. In the recent geological surveys and exploration of the deposit, signs of gold mineralization have been discovered in the deep part of the ore deposit, providing new clues for the deep ore-forming prospects of the deposit. Based on a systematic analysis of the geological and antimony-gold mineralization characteristics of the deposit, combined with geochemical methods, it has been found that there is no significant negative correlation between Au and Sb in the Banxi antimony deposit, and the elements most closely related to Au are As, Mo, and Co, with the enrichment of gold mineralization in vein zone 2. Microscopic studies and electron probe analysis have shown that gold mainly exists in the form of inclusion in pyrite and arsenopyrite. Through the study of the superimposed alteration halo of the deposit, it is predicted that there may be larger-scale and higher-grade gold-antimony ore bodies on the southwest side of veins 2-3 and 2-2 in the deep part of the Banxi antimony deposit, with good potential for gold exploration in the deep part. Through engineering verification, it has been discovered that the Banxi antimony deposit has an industrial ore body of antimony and gold at a depth of −800 meters, providing an important theoretical and practical basis for the subsequent exploration and development of the deposit.
