The development of new media has provided citizens with more platforms for free expression, while also changing their social and civic engagement. Through these platforms, citizens can exercise supervision and judgment over public affairs. In this process, the nature of citizenship has evolved from being an informed citizen who simply receives information to a monitoring citizen with greater independence and critical thinking abilities. With this change in citizenship, the influence of citizen opinion has gradually expanded and become a new force in social regulation. To fully understand this transformation and its manifestations, the widely influential “Jiang Ge case”, which demonstrates the characteristics of the transformation of citizenship, is taken as a research case. By reviewing relevant literature, summarizing current research, and analyzing public opinion on the case through on-site observation, it is found that citizens are able to expand their social rights through guiding and supervising public opinion on digital platforms, thereby monitoring society. %K 公民权力, %K 监测型公民, %K 新媒体, %K 媒介审判
