Tic disorder (TD) is a common chronic neuropsychiatric disease in children. In recent years, due to the influence of various factors such as social environment, psychological stress, dietary habits, electronic products, genetics, and immunity, the incidence of TD in children has increased. According to statistics, the incidence rate of TD in children is on the rise year by year. After years of clinical experience, Professor Yang Xudong proposed a method of soothing the liver and resolving depression, and clearing the heart to calm the mind for the treatment of TD in children. Based on the traditional formula Huanglian Wendan Decoction, he created a modified version called Wendan Ningshen Decoction. This approach involves treating both the heart and liver, regulating the five viscera and six bowels, and has achieved satisfactory results. The following is a summary of the diagnostic and treatment experience of the mentor’s self-created Wendan Ningshen Decoction for the treatment of “childhood TD”, along with a case study, in the hope of expanding the treatment approaches for TD.
