This study focuses on the influence of tool design parameters on roughness. Firstly, it outlines the importance of roughness in mechanical machining and the research significance of tool design parameters on roughness. This article elaborates on the definition and measurement methods of roughness, as well as its impact on product performance, and reviews current related research. Secondly, this study analyzed in detail the relationship between tool design parameters and roughness, including the geometric parameters of the tool (such as tool angle and blade shape) as well as the influence of tool material and coating technology on roughness. In particular, in-depth discussions have been conducted on how different tool materials (such as high-speed steel, hard alloys, etc.) and coating technologies can improve tool performance and thus affect roughness.
