Grounded in the theory of international communication, this thesis undertakes an in-depth analysis of the current state and influencing factors of college students’ competence to “tell Chinese stories well”. Subsequently, it proposes a set of countermeasures and recommendations. The research is primarily centered around the aspects of cultural literacy, English language competence, and intercultural critical thinking skills. Data collection was achieved through the utilization of questionnaires and interviews. The findings of this thesis indicate that the overall competence of college students to “tell Chinese stories well” in English is at a moderate level.
