“News avoidance” is mentioned again in the newly released “Reuters News Service 2024 Digital News Report”, in which the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism found through a survey of more than 95,000 online news consumers in 47 countries that the phenomenon of selective news avoidance continues to be on the rise, with audiences suffering from the emotional stimulation of too many similar stories, negative news and other news. Audiences are driven to avoidance behaviours by excessive similar coverage, negative news, and emotional stimulation. This paper focuses on individuals in micro-situations, and collects qualitative data from 16 members of Generation Z through semi-structured interviews, in an attempt to explore in depth the specific causes and manifestations of news avoidance in this group, and to propose some ideas for coping with the phenomenon accordingly. %K 新闻消费, %K 新闻回避, %K Z世代
