Against the backdrop of new curriculum standards, continuation task instruction in high school English teaching has gradually garnered increasing attention. This paper delves into the current application status and main challenges faced in implementing these tasks in high school English education, such as students lacking sufficient reading comprehension abilities and creative writing skills. To address these issues, this paper proposes the adoption of the Production-Oriented Approach (POA) as a strategic solution. POA emphasizes focusing on students’ learning needs and outputs, aiming to enhance teaching effectiveness through optimized instructional design. The article further elaborates on specific instructional designs for continuation task instruction in high school based on POA, and discusses how this method can effectively improve students’ continuation writing quality and overall English proficiency. The study aims to provide teachers with a new perspective and practical strategies to improve the current teaching model of continuation task instruction, ultimately enhancing students’ text comprehension and language expression abilities. %K 产出导向法, %K 读后续写, %K 教学设计
