A Survey Study on English Learning Motivation of Students in Secondary Vocational Schools—An Example of a Vocational School in Hengshan District %A 韩玲娇 %J Advances in Education %P 1404-1410 %@ 2160-7303 %D 2024 %I Hans Publishing %R 10.12677/ae.2024.14122430 %X 我国教育部颁布的《中等职业学校英语课程标准》中提及,中职英语教师应根据学生的学习动机和学习兴趣以及语言水平,整合教学内容,使不同层次、类型的学生享受到英语学习的快乐。中等职业教育在英语教学上有其特定的培养目标,职业学校的英语教学策略应聚焦于增强学生的实际应用能力,即致力于培养能够灵活应用英语于职场情境的复合型人才。由于中职教育与普高教育在教育宗旨、课程内容的选择、学生的构成、心理特征以及毕业规划等多方面存在显著的差异,这些差异不可避免地反映在英语教学实践中,要求采取更为贴近职业需求的教学模式,所以了解学生的学习动机是教师确定如何教和教什么的关键一步。为了深入了解这一现状,笔者通过问卷调查的方式,对横山职业技术学院部分中职生的英语学习动机进行了调研,结果显示学生群体中普遍存在英语学习动机不强的缺陷。这一发现对于后续如何优化中职学生的英语学习环境、激发其学习兴趣,以及提升中职英语教学的整体成效,具有一定的指导意义和推动作用。
The English Curriculum Standards for Secondary Vocational Schools issued by China’s Ministry of Education mentions that English teachers in secondary vocational schools should integrate the teaching content according to the students’ motivation and interest in learning as well as their language level, so that students of different levels and types can enjoy the joy of English learning. Secondary vocational education has its specific cultivation objectives in English teaching, and the English teaching strategy in vocational schools should focus on enhancing students’ practical application ability, i.e., it is committed to cultivating compound talents who can flexibly apply English in workplace situations. Since there are significant differences between secondary education and general education in terms of educational objectives, choice of curriculum content, student composition, psychological characteristics and graduation planning, these differences are inevitably reflected in the practice of English teaching and require the adoption of a teaching mode that is closer to the vocational needs, so understanding students’ motivation to learn is a key step for teachers to determine how to teach and what to teach. In order to gain a deeper understanding of this current situation, the author conducted a research on the English learning motivation of some intermediate students in Hengshan Vocational and Technical College by means of a questionnaire survey, and the results showed that there is a general deficiency of poor English learning motivation in the student population. This finding has a certain guiding significance and driving effect on how to subsequently optimize the English learning environment of intermediate students, stimulate their learning interest, and enhance the overall effectiveness of intermediate English teaching. %K 中职学生, %K 英语, %K 学习动机
