By collecting and sorting out mural paintings, documents and historical records, the paper reveals the status and influence of wrestling in Dunhuang society by using the method of documentation and logical analysis. The study found that wrestling was not only a recreational activity, but also used for military training and religious ceremonies, reflecting the lifestyle, values and cultural integration of ancient societies. The research results not only enrich the content of ancient Chinese sports history, but also provide enlightenment for modern sports education and cultural activities. The study of wrestling in the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang provides an important window for us to understand ancient sports and culture, showing the integration and interaction of different cultures.
