An Intertextual Reading of I Am Not Sidney Poitier %A 冉璐璐 %J World Literature Studies %P 566-572 %@ 2330-5266 %D 2024 %I Hans Publishing %R 10.12677/wls.2024.126086 %X 小说《我非西德尼·波蒂埃》是美国非裔作家帕西瓦尔·埃弗雷特的代表作之一。不同于传统的黑人小说将视角聚焦在南方种植园，奴隶制以及底层黑人的生活，《我非西德尼·波蒂埃》通过讲述非裔青年主人公非西德尼·波蒂埃所遭遇的一系列离奇经历，以此揭示了黑人在美国后民权时代中所面临的双重种族歧视问题，同时批判了被美国主流媒体所固化的黑人形象。在埃弗雷特创作小说的过程中，他借鉴了美国黑人影星西德尼·波蒂埃所主演的电影人物、情节，以及主题，通过对电影的戏仿，使《我非西德尼·波蒂埃》充满了后现代主义特色。本文运用茱莉亚·克莉丝蒂娃提出的互文性理论，来解读小说《我非西德尼·波蒂埃》与美国黑人影星西德尼·波蒂埃所主演的三部电影在人物、情节与主题上的互文关系。对《我非西德尼·波蒂埃》的互文性解读有助于读者联系各种文本，并在此基础上意识到非裔这一边缘群体在后民权时代所面临的种族困境与身份建构之难。
The novel I Am Not Sidney Poitier is one of the representative works of African American writer Percival Everett. Different from traditional black novels which focus on the Southern plantation, slavery and the life of black underclass, I Am Not Sidney Poitier put emphasis on the inter-racial and intra-racial discrimination encountered by black community in the post-civil rights America. By telling a series of bizarre experiences of the protagonist I Am Not Sidney Poitier, it sharply criticizes the stereotyped black images perpetuated by American mainstream media. In the process of writing the novel, Everett also borrowed the characters, plots and themes of the films starred by African American actor Sidney Poitier. Through the parody and revision of films, Everett endowed the novel with postmodernist traits. This paper uses the theory of intertextuality proposed by the French theorist Julia Kristeva to interpret the intertextual relationship of characters, plots and themes between the novel I Am Not Sidney Poitier and Sidney Poitier’s films. The intertextual interpretation of I Am Not Sidney Poitier helps readers connect various texts and come to realize the racial dilemma and the difficulty of identity construction faced by the marginalized black community in the post-civil America. %K 帕西瓦尔· %K 埃弗雷特， %K 《我非西德尼· %K 波蒂埃》， %K 互文性， %K 种族
