“A bit + commendatory adjective” is an emerging expression that is no longer confined to conveying derogatory meanings. However, within the scale system of degree adverbs, “a bit” still represents a low degree. Out of context, its pairing with adjectives that express high degrees of affirmation or praise does not feel entirely natural. Before this expression became “trendy”, similar usages could also be found historically, but based on an analysis of the CCL corpus, they were constrained and not freely used. Building on previous research, we compared and updated the classification list of commendatory adjectives for the past five years. Simultaneously, we found that “a bit” frequently co-occurs with adverbs that indicate a high degree or emphasis, often appearing in exclamatory sentences or sentences with an exclamatory tone. Consequently, in these combinations, “a bit” has completely lost its meaning of indicating a low degree and has become a fixed part of the expression. %K 绝对程度副词系统, %K 历时变化, %K 共现成分
