This study took universities in Qinhuangdao as an example, analysed the use of loaned buzzwords among college students through questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews. The results show that college students have high cognition and use frequency of loaned buzzwords and have a positive overall attitude towards these words. The research verifies that loaned buzzwords mainly rely on new media platforms to spread and are closely related to foreign cultures. Although the direct influence loaned buzzwords can have to college students’ offline communication is limited, certain potential impact can exist on individual Chinese expression and daily communication. The study suggests that netizens should pay attention to the context when using loaned buzzwords to avoid expression errors and pay attention to the relationship between loaned buzzwords and cultural background. Future research can further explore the influence of loaned buzzwords on the ideological value system of college students and the public opinion environment of new media. %K 外来流行语, %K 新媒体, %K 现状调查
